Keto Food List & Printable Keto Grocery List

Sharing is caring!

Today we are sharing this extensive Keto Food List and FREE printable Keto Grocery List. (Scroll to the bottom to print it)

When I first started the diet, I had a hard time figuring out what I could and couldn’t eat, which is why I decided to create this huge keto diet grocery list for you!

These foods will be an integral component of success. Before you change the way you eat, you have to modify the way you look at food.

Most of the foods we’ve been told are bad for us can be implemented into a healthy diet.

While some of the foods we’ve been told are good for us are not as healthy as we once thought.

Understanding the basics behind the keto diet before you begin will ensure a smooth start.

The last thing we want is for keto to be another failed attempt at long-term weight loss.

2020 Keto Update:

Keto is simple but easy to complicate.

The truth is, you can eat ALMOST any food and stay in ketosis.

As long as you eat less than 25-50 grams of net carbs a day. If you are an athlete you can eat up to 100 carbs per day.

No food, I repeat not one food in existence is a “keto food”.

Like hummus? Eat it!

Like pineapple🍍? Eat it!

If you have a metabolic disease that causes you to be sensitive to sugar don’t eat the foods your doctor advises against. Otherwise, you can eat pretty much any whole food and remain in ketosis.

Don’t be afraid of a banana.

Do be afraid of going over your carbs and calories.

The same person that will write a hate comment about banans not being keto will sit and eat 10 handfuls of nuts 🥜 and think that’s “keto”.

If you eat 1500 calories in nuts along with your other meals, you won’t lose weight on this diet.

Keto is not a miracle diet, and laws of science still apply.

You may find that going keto may help you lose more weight than any other diet.

That may be because you feel fuller longer (thank you fat).

Or because you don’t have as many cravings (less sugar, fewer cravings).

Ketosis only helps you burn body fat if you are eating few enough calories to cause your body to burn the fat for energy.

You’re not losing weight because you stopped eating 🍌 bananas!

Keto Food List Shopping Tips:

Shopping for the keto diet in the grocery store can be overwhelming. As you walk around the store, stick to the outer edges. The outer aisles have the freshest food.

Suddenly, all of your stand-by foods like macaroni and cheese, pasta and bread are no longer on your shopping list.

When you go shopping for the first few times you may feel like a fish out of water. However, with a bit of practice, you’ll feel just as comfortable as you were with your previous shopping lists.

Before you head for the store, make a list of the week’s recipes and then decide what you’ll need to make each meal.

Make sure to purchase low-carb snacks for in-between meals.

Also, plan for modifications to the meals for other people in your home.

The best approach is to use the main meat dish for your meal for the entire family and then a carbohydrate side dish for your family.

For example, if you are eating meatloaf you can add half a potato for the other members of your family while you eat an Asparagus Bundle.

Once you add more carbohydrate grams to your daily limit, you can start to experiment with low-carb packaged foods.

Note: I am so sorry I listed mayo under dairy! Eggs are in the dairy section and it has eggs in it. Please forgive me for losing my brain for a moment!

I’m new to all Keto...trying desperately to loose weight...besides giving up sweets (which completely understand) need to know if hummus is okay...and what I gather from the extensive info I’m guessing like everything in life, the key is balance... too much fat? Hi calories? Do we have to worry about cholesterol in nutritional labels? Again thanks for the great information

Joaquin, Hummus is permissible but it is very calorie-dense because of the fat. Like nuts, you will want to pay attention to how much you eat in one sitting. I would recommend one label serving (which won't seem like much at all) with a cup of broccoli. You hit the nail on the head. It's all about balance! Have a great day.

Are melons such as cantaloupe allowed? or are they to high in carbs.

If you have metabolic health problems you will find that higher carb fruits slow your progress. If you don't then everything in moderation with a focus on net carbs will help you reach your goals. If you can eat melons without losing control of your diet and stay under your net carbs for the day, go for it!
