Keto Crock Pot Clam Chowder

Sharing is caring!

Keto Crock Pot Clam Chowder is perfect for the winter days ahead. You don’t have to be a clam lover to enjoy chowder!

Keto Crock Pot Clam Chowder Recipe. This recipe is perfect for winter and is a great source of healthy fats and iron. If you love a low-carb lifestyle with high fat and moderate protein, this makes a great lunch or dinner meal.

I don’t know about you, but I love crockpot recipes in the winter.

I also love delicious seafood that I don’t have to leave the house to purchase!

I never cared for clam chowder until I lived in Massachusetts.

To this day, I still refer to it as New England Clam Chowda ;).

This recipe is one I had to tweak a little because my family doesn’t enjoy seafood quite as much as I do.

I will admit that with four cans of clams, it was a bit fishy, but I don’t mind it.

Today I’m sharing a slightly modified version (only three cans) in hopes everyone (even non-seafood lovers) will enjoy it.

Keto Clam Chowder Recipe

If you have never eaten real clam chowder (maybe you’ve only eaten it out of a can), you may want to knock it down to as little as two cans.

The thing about canned soups is that they can last for a long time, and any meat they contain is sitting in liquid for who knows how long.

So if you’re a canned clam chowder type, you may find the flavor of canned clams to be a bit overwhelming to the senses.

While they are canned and sit in their juice, that is a lot different than sitting in a soup mix for months.

Still not sold on clams?

Did you know clams are loaded with iron? It’s true. If you lack iron in your diet, this recipe is an excellent way to boost your iron stores.

They are also a great source of healthy fat, and I know you LOVE healthy fats!

Now that we have all of that out of the way, let’s start cookin’ up some wintery goodness!

  1. Cook bacon until crispy (reserve bacon grease in the pan)
  2. Chop onion and celery
  3. Place onion and celery in bacon grease and cook until soft (do not discard the grease. It will go in the crockpot with the veggies)
  4. After the veggies are soft, pour all ingredients (including crumbled bacon) into the crockpot.
  5. Cook on low for 4-6 hours or on High for 2 hours.
Bacon

Tip: If you’re not already eating thick-cut bacon, you should be!

While it may seem more expensive with the cheaper stuff, you’re paying for less meat and more fat.

While I love fat, I don’t want to pay for fat I can’t eat. If you drink your bacon grease, you probably get your money’s worth, but I don’t know anyone who does that. 😉

Celery

Don’t forget to pour your bacon grease into the crockpot along with your veggies!

Can't wait to make some of these slow cooker meals. Hot weather in the summer calls for meals you can prepare in the early morning in the crock pot and not have to heat the kitchen at Dinner Time. Thank you for the wonderful Crock pot meals.

This recipe is everything!! It’s a favorite now! I omitted the leeks, but added 8 ounce of cream cheese and a seafood medley with the clams and cauliflower! Very happy!
