Does Body For Life Work? It’s a common question we get asked about the Body For Life exercise program, and today we will answer that question!
As someone who loves to try many different workout plans, Body For Life was a program I couldn’t wait to get my hands on.
It was the first workout program I tried after having our second daughter after having spent years killing myself in the gym.
I’ll admit I was a skeptic. Upon reading the book, I immediately doubted that 20-45 minutes in the gym six days a week would get me back the body I had worked so hard for so long.
I. WAS. WRONG!
Does Body For Life Work?
Body for Life is a program that ANYONE can do.
From the novice to the seasoned fitness guru, this program can be adapted for those of all fitness levels.
The premise?
The workouts are short but high-intensity pair them with the keto diet, and you have a winning combination!
So here’s the breakdown…
Body For Life: Cardio Days
Cardio days are three days a week at 20-minute intervals.
You start with a warm-up interval, increase your intensity to the point that you can’t go any more complicated, bring it back down again, then repeat it a few times.
This is perfect for anyone looking to build endurance because you only have to go as hard as your body allows.
The stronger you get, the harder you push it. I recommend starting on a bike or the elliptica if you’re a beginnerl.
You need to run if you’ve been working out for a while.
The treadmill (and some entertaining TV) make this more manageable as you can track your pace and catch up on all the shows you’ve missed.
If you have to run outside because you don’t own a treadmill or have access to a gym, then ask for a running GPS for your next birthday or Christmas present, and you’ll be just fine.
I added 10 minutes of walking and sprints to this workout (I couldn’t help myself), but I’m not sure it was needed.
That’s the great thing about this progra. Itt makes a great foundation that the die-hard fitness fan can customize.
I have worked out my entire Life in a gym and have done hours of cardio, but never to this intensity or in this way. Body For Life worked!
In only three months, I lost my baby weight (35 lb plus).
My wise husband hasconsistentlys criticized me for the time I spent running while he ran a couple of miles at max and was done in minutes.
“Work harder, not longer,” he would always say, to which I responded by flicking sweat from his face.
Well,it turns out he was right (but don’t tell him I said that).
The intervals allow you to push your body, build muscle and burn more in a shorter period. Awesome, right?
Asking Does Body For Life Works is much like asking if Keto works! It works as well as you let it!
Does Body For Life Work: You Be The Judge!
Want to Try It Yourself? These are just a few of our favorites in the Body For Life series:
Body For Life: Weight Workouts
Weights are pretty straightforward, too, because Body for Life gives you pictures and step-by-step instructions for each exercise.
Like cardio workouts, it’s about increasing the intensity (weight) with alternating lower and upper body workouts three days a week.
I did many weight workouts at home and could still get great results.
I didn’t have an all-out gym in our home, and the limited resources available for heavy lifting were a problem, but I adapted, and you can too!
You can lift your children, pets, and chairs (you think I’m kidding, right, but I did this!).
When paired with the keto diet, body for Life is a great program that can help you reach your goals in just a few short months.
You will start noticing changes after three weeks.
You’ll begin to see muscles where you didn’t know they existed, and that will motivate you when you feel like quitting.
Does Body For Life Work… For Women?
As I’m sure you can see, it is an excellent program. I recommend the original version to everyone.
I don’t support the amended version for women because it was a little too “fluffy” for my taste as a former gym rat.
It may be perfect for you iff you have never worked out beforu; it’s all about what you’re comfortable with.
The website is excellent, with recipes, workouts, and even worksheets you can print off and take to the gym to record youractivityt.
You can also enter to win prizes by trying it for ninety days and recording your results.
Body For Life: Weight Lifting For Women
A reminder or lesson to all the women considering this program.
A common myth or excuse not to lift is the fear of bulking up, do not worry about that!
You are a woman with less testosterone and smaller muscles, and you are not popping steroids (at least,t, I hope not).
Do not fear the weights.
Time spent lifting will lean you out, strengthen your muscles, and give you a gorgeous shape.
The stronger you get, the leaner you will be, so don’t be afraid to give it all you’ve got and lift HEAVY!
You will be blown away by the results.
You can also tailor your workouts to meet your needs. If you are happy with the size of your shoulder muscles, go easy or skip and exercise.
Every body type is different, but a woman never has to worry about looking like a man unless she is taking hormones.
One last thing I do have to say…
When a program suggests a particular time frame, I’ve found that it’s best to stick to that schedule and move on.
That’s not to say that you won’t recommit to that program again, but for entertainment’s sake, I like to spice it up and move on to something new or something I haven’t done in a while.
Of course, this works for me and may not work for you.
If you find comfort in routine, stick with it, but vary the equipment and intensity level of your workouts.
